Sheffield Association League

Denaby consolidated their position in the Sheffield Association League with another win on Saturday, and they should be well in the running for honours at the close of the season.  Ardron the Swinton player is their “star” man, but on Saturday, Smith who is actually on Arsenal’s books gave a good account of himself.

Denaby United will meet the strong Bolsover side in the second round of the Sheffield Senior Challenge Cup at Bolsover.

Smith’s Smart Work

Highlight of Denaby Victor

One of the best games this season, at Denaby, was seen on Saturday, when Denaby United defeated Beighton Welfare 3-1.

Lionel Smith, Denaby United’s centre-half, who is on Arsenal’s books, gave an outstanding display and his defensive work saved a goal on many occasions.

Special mention should also be made of the two wing halves, Shephard and Rossington, who also played well.  Beighton had a good strong team but their attacks were never dangerous.  Armitage and Booth were their best.

COCKER, ATTWELL and GIBBS scored for Denaby while ARMITAGE replied for Beighton.
