A Spirited Game at Nottingham.

Nottingham Forest Res 2  Denaby United 2

Yesterday’s Midland League match between the Forest Reserve and Denaby United at Nottingham was one of the best played in the competition this season. The Foresters who are strongly bent on winning the championship, had a very strong side In the field, including Hooper and Spouncer, the two outside men with whom they in September started their Division I campaign, and curiously enough this pair scored the goals in the first half which enabled them to claim a point.

Goals from outside forwards nowadays are so rare that the two great shots which scored yesterday are entitled to special mention. There was not a great deal to choose between the opposing sides so far as actual attacking was concerned, and a division of the spoils was a very fair ending.

Perhaps the greater credit is duo to Denaby, they were two goals down at the end of half-an-hour, and afterwards put the ball into the net thrice. Dyalls and Blackburn were ever prominent for Denaby in attack, and the visitors were well served in every other department Gregory and Coalwood being fine pair of backs.

For the Forest the halves were good, and the forwards did many smart things, but the inside men were off in their shooting.
