Denaby Miss the boat at Nottingham

Nottm Forest Res 3 Denaby United 0

If Denaby United inside forwards had taken the chances in the first half of their rearranged Midland league fixtures with champion Nottingham Forest reserves at the city ground last night, they would not still be seeking their first away win of the year. Forest won 3 – 0.

Dixon fired over with a swift 20 yarder in the first few minutes, centre forward Duggan a hard worker throughout, hit the cross bar and Dixon and Austin had shots turned out by goalkeeper Knibs.

It was from a breakaway goal in the 34th minute that centre forward Wally Ardron worked through to give Forests an undeserved lead, but in the second half, Forest, without Ardron, who damaged a knee, added goals through Clueroe and Percival.

Barnes, at centre half for Denaby played well but Denaby’s best prospect was centre forward Duggan, who never gave up trying.
