Developments at Denaby

The coal industry social welfare organisation is to make a grant of £1000 towards the cost of extensions to Denaby Tom Hill youth centre. Two extra rooms are expected to be built this year.

Mr. R. Miller, of the management committee of the youth centre, and a representative, announced this at the youth club’s Christmas party in the centre on Saturday. Mr Milner said a provisional grant of £1000 was to be made towards the initial extensions which included the two rooms to be added to the present building.

The party was attended by about 140 members, and guest included Mr Miller and Mrs Miller, Mr a Roberts, vice chairman of the management, and Mrs. Roberts and other representatives of the management and football committees. Cricket trophies were presented to the 12 players who help the club cricket team to win the Mexborough and district evening Cricket league ‘B’ section championship for the third time in four years.

Mr A. Bright, a trustee of Denaby and Cadeby Miners welfare, presented the trophies. The party was entertained by the clubs skiffle group. Tea was prepared by Mr H. Nicholson, Mrs. M. Chatfield Mrs Ball, Mrs Lovell, Mrs. R. Broom and Mrs. R. Fox.
