Mr Chappell and the Denaby Miners

Mr WH Chambers, manager at Denaby Main Colliery, writes to a contemporary as follows:

“I beg to say that Mr Chappell seems to have misunderstood the conversation he had with me recently. I have made no agreement with them on any question, except as his contain the written memorandum drawn up at the time old hands were readmitted.”
