The Denaby Dispute

Work at Another Colliery

At a meeting held near the residence of the reverent T.J.Leslie on Tuesday afternoon, the reverent gentleman stated that he had received a letter from the manager of a colliery where it was said there was no dispute, and that they could find employment for a number of men.

Several miners giving their names to go others intimated that they had secured work at Monk Bretton, Tinsley Park and other pits in the neighbourhood of Barnsley.

Relief was again distributed by Mr Leslie.

At a subsequent meeting of the miners, a letter was read from Mr Chappell, stating that he was about to start a fresh branch of the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire Miners Association.

The letter provoked a warm discussion and on its conclusion a resolution was passed deciding adhere to the former resolution, which was to the effect that the Denaby Lodge be in future connected to the union at Barnsley.
