Dog Attacked Four People
“Playful” Conduct At Denaby.

A dog which was alleged to have attacked four people on the same night on the same street at Denaby was ordered to be destroyed by Doncaster West Riding magistrates on Friday.

The owner Frederick Newey (29). Miner, Melton view, Denaby, sent a letter to the court pleading guilty to being the owner of the dog which was dangerous and not under proper control.

Mrs Joan Logan of Firbeck Street, Denaby, said that on Tuesday, May 22nd she was walking along School Walk, Denaby, with her husband, when a brindle coloured Greyhound jumped up at her. “It was not playful” she said and added that her husband knocked the dog away.

Miss Jean Sanderson of Adwick Street, Denaby, said the dog jumped up at her, grabbing her left wrist and causing it to be bruised. He said Mrs Logan’s husband knocked the dog off.

PC Angus said on the same evening the dog had also attacked two girls who were more severely injured, but their mothers and refused to complain. He said he estimated the dog’s age at 9 to 10 months although Newey told him that the dog was only six months old. The constable said when he interviewed Newey he said “it’s only playful”
