“Driven Off His Dot”

Yesterday, Joseph Golding, yeast dealer, Conisbro’, was brought up at the Doncaster, charged with being orderly and assaulting Police-constable Creighton at Denaby, on Wednesday night.

Police-constables Lockwood and Creighton were on the Doncaster road, when they saw defendant creating a disturbance, and in the struggle, which lasted ten minutes Creighton was kicked on the thigh and legs several times whilst the handcuffs were being put on the man’s hand.

Defendant told the Bench he was sorry and having got some whisky it must have driven him “off his dot.”

He was committed to prison for one month for the assault and fined 5s. and costs but being and disorderly
