Drunk and Quarrelsome

David Robinson, bricklayer, Conisborough was summoned for having been drunk and disorderly at that place on the 28th ult.

Police Constable Coddington stated that he saw the defendant in a drunken condition at New Hill, Conisborough. When witness told defendant to go home he expressed a wish to fight him.

The defendant complained that the constables threatened to knock him into “smithereens.” He was of opinion that he ought not to be convicted on the unsupported evidence of the Constable.

Fined 15 shillings and 10 shillings costs.

A Foolish Trick

John Lister, labourer, of Conisborough, was summoned for a similar offence at that place on the 27th ult.

Police Constable Coddington proved the case, and defendant was fine 15 shillings and 10 shilling costs.

In evidence the Constable stated that he had received complaints of the defendant knocking at house doors.
