High Example

The Ellis brothers of Crookhill Road, Conisborough, have a high reputation to maintain, for their father, who is a deputy at Cadeby Colliery and a platoon commander in the Conisborough Home Guard, served throughout the last war to the R.E. Signals, attained the rank of sergeant, and won the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Military Medal Bar.

Kenneth Ellis, (left picture) who is 19, joined the R.A.F. Volunteer Reserve in June, is stationed somewhere in the South, and was formerly employed in the Grocery Department of the Doncaster Co-operative Society at Conisborough. He is a keen footballer and in his schooldays was captain of Conisborough Senior School and secured a trial with Yorkshire county schoolboys.

Douglas Ellis (right picture) joined the Royal corps of Signals in November 1939, and is now out East. Douglas, who was formerly an apprentice joiner at Messrs. Greathead Brothers, of Conisborough, receives a copy of the “Times” each week and he will no doubt be surprised to see his photo in this issue.
