Ex Conisbrough U.D.C. Chairman

Ordained As Elder in American Church

Former chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council, Rev, Reginald J. Troughton; has been ordained as an Elder in the Civic Auditorium at Stockton, California, U.S.A., where he has lived since 1953. He was also re-appointed to the Church of Boulder Creek, California for the seventh successive year.

The ordination took place at the time of the California-Nevada Conference at the Methodist Church of America, on June 21st.

His wife, Mrs. Annie Troughton, was in the procession with various dignitaries at the ordination service.

Mr. Troughton was a lay preacher when he lived at Conisbrough. He was a Labour member of the council and subsequently Housing Manager of Conisbough Urban Council. .

Mr. and Mrs. Troughton keep in touch with local news via the “South Yorkshire Tirnes”,which is sent out each week by his cousin, Mr. R. E. Downed, of 28, Church Mr. Street, Conisbrough.

In a letter Mr Troughton says how much they appreciate reading the Conisbrough and Denaby news which enables them to keep touch with their many frends to whom they send their warmest regards.
