Retirement.
A person very well known and respected in the village is retiring from his post as Explosive Store Attendant at Denaby Main colliery to morrow (Saturday).
He is Mr I. L. Moseley of 97 Tickhill Street, Denaby Main, who has been employed at Denaby Main colliery underground and surface for nearly 50 years.
Mr Mosley came to Denaby Main as a footballer from Sheffield in May. 1907, and commenced work at Denaby Main colliery as pick sharpener.
He later went down the mine but returned to surface work after sustaining injuries to his hand and feet. He played with the Denaby United team from 1907 and returned to play with them after his war service. The last match he played in was at Hull in 1921. He was later the trainer of the Denaby team for 17 years.
He has been a great worker for the St John ambulance Brigade. He joined the Denaby division in 1910 and was appointed Company Sergeant Major in 1922, a position he still holds. He is the proud possessor of the long service medal with six bars and has the honour of being an Honorary saving purveyor of their order.
He possesses a pleasant baritone voice which it is still good.
