Felling A Chimney
End of Glass-Bottle Works at Conisborough

A 100-feet-high chimney, with girth of 48 feet, was felled at Conisborough, to-day, at the works of Kilner Brothers, Ltd., formerly glass bottle manufacturers.

The chimney was “dropped “ within a few minutes with two charges of high explosives.

The factory closed down last year after having been in existence for 65 years, and is now in the hands of dismantlers.

Two other chimneys remain to be dropped, one them, 160 feet high, being one of the highest In South Yorkshire.

The majority of the bricks in the chimneys will be used again for building purposes.
