Fire Engine

Sometime ago I mentioned the Fire arrangements prevailing in Conisborough. And from the “local and general” column that Mexborough’s  new engine was at our disposal day or night.

Under the circumstances it was particularly pleasing to note the record of its baptism of fire.

Receiving a call this weekend at 3 o’clock in the morning. It was at Goldthorpe ready for work five minutes after, really commendable..

The knowledge that Mexborough possesses “live” fire fighting equipment should lift and load from the minds of those outlying districts like ours. Which may have to call on it some time and incidentally be in inactive for other councils do likewise in the division of motor engines.
