“Top of the House”

Bingo offers a pleasant little novelty at Mr. C.H. Rotherham’s Total filling station at Conisbrough.

It’s a case of “all the ones”, “all the twos”, “all the threes” and “all the fours” (eleven and a penny, twenty-two and twopence, thirty-three and threepence or forty-four and fourpence).

If the price meter stops at any of those figures when a petrol tank’s full to the brim, the tankful is free, and after the first week it was won on Sunday by Conisbrough greengrocer, Mr. Bob Stringer, who popped in for four gallons, looked at the clock and decided to ‘fill her up’.

The price – thirty-three and threepence: all the threes! (£1.66) This fill-up was free with the proprietor’s compliments.

The novelty has certainly caught on, and the free fill-up is still on offer.
