Gained Gold Award

Patricia Cross, of 32, March Vale rise, Conisbrough, has gained the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, and she will go to London to receive her certificate.

Patricia, 17-year-old Mexborough Grammar School student, started the award scheme at Northcliffe High School, where she gained a bronze award at the age of 14 following her departure to Mexborough Grammar School, Patricia completed the award scheme course through the Northcliffe School as part of the scheme, Patricia spent a week as a resident helper in an old people’s home at Halifax.

A keen ranger guide, she has also helped to organise guide activities. She has been a Queens Guide since 1963.

Patricia is now in her final year at school, studying geography, economics and biology to “A” level, and she hopes to go to teacher training college at Barry, South Wales, where her brother is already studying.
