No Licence

Thomas Snow, of no fixed abode was charged with hawking without a licence at Conisbrough on the second inst.

police Constable Patterson stated that on the previous day he found the prisoner hawking spectacles. At first defendant denied hawking, and said he had been to beg a match.

In defence, prisoner said he had lost his licence and was going back to Bradford to get it renewed.

The Bench imposed a fine of five shillings and 8s 9d costs, but added that the chief Constable would wire Bradford and if defendant story was true, the fine will be remitted.
