He Lost His Ticket.

This morning, at the West Riding Police Court, John Shaw, mason, Denaby was brought custody charged with travelling on the Great Central Railway without a ticket at Mexborough, on the 28th of September.

Mr. McArthur, at Mexborough, said that the date in question the man alighted from the p.m. train from Doncaster, went into a urinal, and as he did not come out his suspicions were aroused. Some time afterwards he came out and got over some railings.

Witness went and asked him for his ticket. He at first said he hadn’t come by train, but afterwards admitted that he had. The man drew a knife and threatened what he would do. Prisoner then ran away.

Prisoner said he booked from Doncaster to Conisborough, but went on to Mexborough. He did not know the way out Mexborough, and had lost his ticket.

Fined 40s including costs, or a month.
