Took His Cornet

Sydney Hingley, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hingley, 138, Doncaster Road, Denaby Main, is a despatch rider “somewhere in France” and is attached to an anti-aircraft battery.

He went to France early in September and writes very cheerful letters.

He was a member of the Miners Welfare Band and took his cornet with him. He has been able to assist in entertaining the troops in a concert party called “The Bofor Boys Concert Party”.

He was employed in the Deep Seam of Denaby Colliery and sends his regards to all his pals.

He looks forward to the “South Yorkshire Times” from which he learns all the news of the “home front”.
