Its Own Way

For driving a horse and cart in a dangerous manner at Conisborough, Tom Wilburn (20) ice cream vendor, of Doncaster, was fined 30 shillings at Doncaster West Riding Police Court on Tuesday.

He pleaded “not guilty.”

Inspector Gooderson said defendant was in charge of an ice cream cart, in Ivanhoe Road, Conisborough, when he drove on the wrong side of the road and collided with a stationary motorcar which was drawn up by the kerb.

The van driver said he was sitting in the van when the arson car collided with his vehicle. The horse seemed to be going its own way without any control from the defendant. The van was damaged by the collision.

The defendant said the horse was not fully broken in and not accustomed to taking corners properly.
