Nearly Five – Ivanhoe Club’s Birthday
N.C.U. Official’s Advice

“I am rather surprised when you have so many members, that you have not a few fellows who stand out in the racing world. However you will probably find one, and when you do, take care of him. At the same time look after the social site. It is the social side and club runs that make a club.”

This was the advice given to the Conisborough Ivanhoe Club by an N.C.U.official, Mr W Siddall of Rotherham at the annual supper and prize distribution of the Ivanhoe cycling club held in the Conisborough welfare Pavilion on Saturday

Mr J Long presided over a company of about 90 which included Mr C.J.Pickett (president) and Mrs Pickett

Mr Siddall propose a toast of the club, and in reply letter was read by Mrs J Long from Mrs Lees, the secretary, who was prevented from attending owing to illness. Mrs Lees stated that in a few weeks’ time they will be celebrating their fifth year as the Conisborough Ivanhoe cycling club.

Their membership was not as large this year as in 1934. They totalled 78, and they found that number much easier to handle. During 1935 they were hoping to make the club more attractive and he appealed to the members to help

The “Visitors” was proposed by Mr Joe Lee (VP) Mr F Oldfield, secretary of the Mexborough Club responded

Mr A Laughton, and all member complement to the club upon its array of medals

Other speakers were Messrs S Johnson (club captain), W Gittins (racing secretary), H Johnson and J Long

The prizes were presented by Mr C.J.Pickett, who said the club was financially sound. He was willing to do what you called for the club. He was a member some years ago and there were present that night two or three people who were members before the war

The following cups were presented:
