Ivanhoe Cycling Club – Incidents on Otley Run

Conisbrough Ivanhoe Cycling Club run to Otley in which 29 members were present was not without incidents.

The first on the way to Otley, involved a new member C Wheat, who skidded off the road into a deep ditch, but neither rider nor bicycle suffered any damage.

At Otley J Limer had his bicycle stolen from outside a cafe; later, with police assistance, cycle frame, minus the wheels and pedal, was recovered in some bushes on the riverbank some distance from Otley.

On the way to Wentbridge for tea, P.J. Round had an accident that resulted in his bicycle frame being wrecked.

At Otley the club were joined by Kay first, R Longley, J Jowitt, G Cassell and B Streets who had cycled to Blackpool on the Saturday for a visit to the illuminations.

The club Hill climb championship resulted in a win for Wath member M.Beevers with a time of one minute 30.6 seconds, M Jones 1.35.8 and W Leivesley 1.36.4 were second and third.

Next Sunday’s club run is to Laneham Ferry and starts from the Red Lion hotel at 10 am.
