Make a Bold Bid for Victory
Denaby and Cadeby´s last two men, Porter and Holland made a valiant attempt to win the game against Firbeck at Denaby, but when 11 short of victory and in the last over Holland was bowled by Larke, a former Denaby player. These two added 39 each registering a six.
In two hours and 40 minutes Firbeck scored 133 for seven wickets.
For Denaby, Holland had five for 61, and for Firbeck, Larke had three for 40 and Sherwin three for 35. Chief scorers for Firbeck were Rodgers (46), Sherwin (26), Starbrook (16), Higgs (14 not out) and Gent (15).
Porter (not out 23), Cutts (23), Holland (16), Bateson (13) and Greenwood (26) were Denaby and Cadeby´s principal scorers.
