Denaby Go for 52

Bentley 53 for 2 Denaby & Cadeby 52

Denaby and Cadeby, who created a sensation in the Council a week ago when they defeated Rockingham got a taste of the same treatment themselves on Saturday when they visited Bentley and where tumbled out for 52 by the colliery who won by 8 wickets.

Denabys batsmen were never comfortable against the bowling of Broadhead who took 8 for 16, and Scott (two for 34). Greenwood and Bateson put on 13 for the first wicket before Greeenwood was caught behind the wicket by H. Madison. And this started the slide, for with only 3 more on the board Bateson and Davison had left. Without addition Broadhead dismissed Mee and a few minuets later Holland also left. Broadhead took the last 4 wickets, George Porter, last man in, getting 9 of the 14 runs scored.

When Bently went in to Denaby’s hopes of pulling the games out of the fire straightened when Blake was run out with only 9 on the board, but they were only short lived, for after Allan had stumped Fletche with the score at 29, C. Maddison and Buntirg had no difficulty in knocking of the score.
