South Yorkshire Times, June 6.

One Handed Catch on the Boundary.

Although Denaby and Cadeby seem at times inclined to make heavy weather of their Yorkshire Council home match on Saturday, overall they had little trouble in gaining a six wicket victory over a very sporting Aston Hall side.

The visitors apparently had little to offer. Denaby until B. Simmonite (49) and J Lunnard (15) stuck together for about 60 runs to see the score past the 100 mark.

Simmonite was out in glorious fashion as he hit a probable six, only to be caught one-handed on the boundary by Arthur Ellis. So the visitors were all out for 126.

For Denaby Lawley took five for 57, Pearson four for 65 and Walker 1 for 8.

After 11 overs batting Denaby were 26 for two but Norman Oakley (44 not out), R Dodd in brackets 26),, a Jones (18) and P Downing (16 not out) make sure of victory, though openers Ellis and Walker went for 8 each. Their final score was 129 for 4.

Aston Hall tried six bowlers in a gallant effort. R Coxon took 1 for 24, S Swindles 1 for 29 and T Simmonite one for 29.
