Killed by Fall of Roof

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned at an inquest at Denaby on Saturday on Ernest Martin (34), miner of Doncaster Road, Denaby, who was killed by a fall of roof at Denaby pit.

The Coroner (Mr. W. H. Carlile) said that the roof where the fall occurred was known to be very bad, and the best procedure would have been to have got the roof down.

Ernest Martin, of Doncaster Road, Denaby Main, who was fatally injured at Denaby Main Colliery on Thursday, was interred in Denaby Cemetery yesterday with honours.

The coffin was draped with a Union Jack, and was borne to the graveside by members of the Denaby British Legion Club.
