Kilnhurst 1 Denaby Main 2

This match was played at Kilnhurst on Saturday.

The home team set the ball in motion, and for the time both sides seemed about equally matched. The visitors forwards, however, broke away, and Rogders by a splendid shot drew first blood.

On restarting the ball , the visitors again set to work, and, after a struggle in the goalmouth, scored a second point.

The home forwards now tried hard to equalise matters, and ran the leather close up to the visitors citadel, when Wilson, one of the Denaby blokes, put the ball through his own goal.

On changing ends the Denaby forwards tried hard to score, but their efforts were frustrated by the home backs, who played in good style throughout. No further score was made by either side, and the game terminated in a win for the visitors by two goals to one.

Denaby team: – Upton, goal; Wilson and Nolan, backs: Gibson, Fereday, and Bowes, halfbacks; Hoyland, Beardsley, Morgan, Rogers, and Winfield, forwards.
