Labour Council of 1913 – One of the First in the Country

Mr. J. Doran, of 1, Parkgate Avenue, Conanby, writes this week:

Reading Conisbrough notes in last week’s edition, I see you give the names of the Labour Council elected in 1913.

I wonder if a photo of these men would interest you and your readers? I should think it was one of the first, if not the first Labour Council to be elected in the country.

In the photograph, left to right, are Messrs. T. Hill, G. Starr, C. Bashforth, T. Haggar, E. Brooks, W. Tyas, J. Doran and S. C. Urch.

The photo was by R. J. Rosser, Conisbrough, and is headed, “Conisbrough Parish Council Election, Labour Candidates.”
