Notts, a mining engineer of reputation, managing director of the Denaby and Cadeby Main Collieries, Ltd., a director of the Lincolnshire Boring Syndicate.,left estate of the gross value of £58,558, with net personality £54,981. (£3.6 million in 2020 values.)

He gives £1,503 a year and during widowhood the use of Clayworth Ball and furniture to his wife, £100 each to the executors Mr. Cockle and Mr. Carlin, and the residue of his property in trust for his children.
