The Rev GF Braithwaite (Conisbrough) has a mangle of great weight and ample proportions for which he has no longer a use. He is willing to part with this venerable object d’art for the sum of five shillings (or nearest offer).

“I don’t imagine anyone will want to use the thing, although it functions quite efficiently as you will see if you put your fingers in the role,” Mr Braithwaite told a “South Yorkshire Times” reporter this week.

“It might have some value a scrap metal, and any money made from the sale will go to church funds,” he concluded.
