Denaby United came a cropper at Gainsborough, where the Trinity might have won by an even bigger margin than 8 – 0

Denaby arrived late and the game was delayed 15 minutes. Trinity led by 3—o at the interval, goals being scored by Downes and Hall (2).

In the second half, Trinity wore them down and Hall added three more goals. When he scored his third he completed his third successive hat trick.” Kirk and Green also scored.

Denaby occasionally attacked and one Swaby conceded a penalty for a foul, but Cook saved the kick. Denaby fought pluckily but were outclassed
