Unlucky Denaby.

Denaby United 2 , Retford Town 3

when you’re at the bottom of the League nothing goes right, and Denaby United must have had that feeling after their Midland league match at Tickhill Square on Monday.

They played some of their best football for a long time, but weren’t rewarded with a single point.

Retford, when they were on top, played well as a team, moving quickly and using their wings well, but when Denaby put the pressure on they were a changed side – and Denaby put the pressure on quite a lot.

They took the lead in the first half with a goal from Harvey, but Retford equalised immediately when Jones, trying to clear shot from Parker, deflected the ball past Hough. Retford took the lead in the 60 min, Jerrison, who later marred his performance by the stupid kicking of  Ainscough in the second half, finishing off a superb Retford move.

Retford went further ahead. 6 min after half-time, Howarth scoring with a surprise shot from almost 30 yards out, but Coleman, who was guilty of a few missed chances, put Denaby back into the game less than a minute later, nipping into score when Denman fumbled a centre.
