Shortly afterwards Cole left the field for the second time, his left knee having given way. A couple of rushes by the visitors front rank saw Lyall clear, and it was not long before the game was transferred, but Lawley and H Whitehouse defended stubbornly, with the result that the Reserves were gradually forced back, T Hardy skimming the bar with a fast shot.
