Two Doncaster detectives have been given prizes in an allotment competition.

Visitor at Barnburgh Show to be held at Harlington on September 1st will be the British all-round weightlifting champion for 1948-49, Mr. Malcolm Hartshorn. Mr. Hartshorn will give a display during the day. The show, which is to be opened by Mrs. Frank Schofield, will also include a display of road safety by the West Riding Constabulary, and a tractor rally.
Young men born during the period August 1, 1933, to September 1933, both dates inclusive, will be required to register under the National Service Acts, 1948 1950, on Saturday, September 8th
F.S. Truman, Yorkshire’s 20 years old fast-medium bowler, has been informed that he is to report at RAF Station pad gate, on Tuesday, September 4 to commence his national service. This is the day that the County contemplate their programme for the season.
Under a competition organised by the Sheffield branch of the National hairdressers Federation, people in the north of England are invited to bring out locks of hair which are over a hundred years old have been kept in lockets, rings, brooches or any other setting. The hair will be judged on preservation, arrangement and setting. Winners will be announced at the Editor’s Festival Ball at Sheffield on October 15th.
