Miss Madeline Heald , B.A., of Kilnhurst, has been appointed senior French mistress at Sowerby Bridge Secondary School.

The South Yorkshire coal owners have agreed to reduce the price of house coal until further notice by 10d. per ton on the prices in operation at January 31st.

The Swinton Urban District Council’s new sewage disposal works are to formally opened next Tuesday afternoon by Councillor W. H. Rix, chairman of the Public Health Committee, and the opening ceremony will be followed by a celebration dinner at the Gate Inn, Swinton.

At the annual meeting and conference of Urban District Councils’ Association which opened yesterday at Malvern, addresses are to be given by Councillor P. B. Nicholson, of West Melton, on the application of the Workmen’s Compensation Act to nurses in infectious diseases hospitals; and by Mr. Spencer Baker, Clerk to the Conisborough Urban District Council, on “Economical Administration.”
