The annual dinner of the Mexboro’ Traders’ Association will be held next Thursday evening at the Montagu Arms Hotel.

It has been decided to hold the usual treat to old folks at Mexboro’ and a meeting of the committee was held on Tuesday evening.
Conisboro’ people are considerably annoyed because the authorities persist in turning off the water supply without giving due notice.
The opening match of the M.C.C. cricket team in Australia opens to-day (Friday) in Adelaide, their opponents being South Australia.
Wath Council have refused the application of the Mexboro’ and Swinton Tramway Co. to introduce the trackless trains in the Wath district.
Anniversary services in connection with Mexboro’ Brotherhood and Sisterhood are to be held on Sunday and Monday next in the Wesleyan Church.
Four accidents have occurred this week at the Wath Main Colliery. In one instance a Darfield mineral inspector had a miraculous escape from death.
Meetings have been held in Swinton and Kilnhurst this week to stir up the Council’s proposal to make a direct road between Swinton and Kilnhurst.
The photographs reproduced in another page indicate that preliminary work prior to the commencement of the new pit at Barnburgh is now well in hand.
At the last meeting of the Doncaster and Mexboro’ Joint Hospital Mr. J. Parker of Thurnscoe said he considered Thurnscoe was at a standstill so far as population was concerned.
One of the largest funerals we have seen of late was that of Mr John Stacey, a prominent Manvers Main miner’s official who died very suddenly on Saturday. He was at work as usual on Friday.
We are informed that the Sheffield Banking Company has acquired premises at the corner of French Gate and Baxter Gate, Doncaster, and that the bank will shortly be opening a branch there.
The defendant in the Mexboro’ manslaughter case indignantly denied that he was a fighting man and proceeded under cross-examination to enumerate the many fights he had fought and lost.
In aid of the funds of the Mexboro’ Cricket and Athletic Club, a number of ladies and gentlemen are working assiduously in arranging a café chantant and dance to be held at West Street Hall on Thursday November 23rd.
For the benefit of the Swinton Hospital and Convalescent Home Fund a grand concert will be held in the Empire Palace, Mexborough on Sunday November 26th. A capital array of artistes has been secured for this event.
The meeting to protest against the proposed disestablishment of the Welsh Church will be held on Friday December 8th at Denaby, when speakers will be Sir A. Griffith Boscawen M.M. and the Archdeacon of Halifax Rev. W. Foxley Norris.
The Rotherham hiring fair took place on Monday, when a considerable number of all classes of servants were engaged. Wages were stated to be slightly better. Women servants were fewer in number, and mistresses were stated to be in the majority
Mrs. Taylor (nee Miss Patsie Washington) of Wombwell, who is appearing with conspicuous success this week at Mexboro’ Theatre in the “Yeoman of the Guard.” Sails for Canada on November 17th to join her husband, who is an official of the Canadian Pacific Railway at Medicine Hat, Alberta.
The will of the late Mr. Abraham Lee, of Helena Street, Mexboro’, who died on the 24th December, 1910, has been proved by his executors – Dr. Lee, of Mexboro’; the Rev. Richard Lee, of Blyth; and the Rev. John William Lee, of Dunstan-on-Tyne – at £1,371 12s 1d gross personalty and £8,412 2s 3d gross real estate. The deceased was 65 years of age.
