Conisborough 72 for 9  Swinton 101

Conisborough make a Lucky Draw

The visitors to Conisbrough on Saturday were Swinton, 18, which, on the previous Saturday administered to Balby a severe defeat in a friendly game.

The home team could only get together what in some respects looked like a scratch team. The vicar was unable to take his place as captain, being called away to perform clerical duties, while other absentees were T.Nesbitt, H.Sharp, and J.Day.

There was a delay in starting, but the captains agreed to draw stumps at seven o’clock, and there is no doubt that if the full four hours I’ve been played out Swinton will be able to claim their first League victory.

Swinton were all out for 101, Linathan taking seven wickets for 52 runs.

With nearly an hour and a half to play the Conisbrough innings began. C Bury batted in fine form for Conisbrough reaching 31 when he skied a ball, and was easily caught. The score was 72 when there it stood, the next three wickets falling for none.

Conisbrough had only one man to send in when time was called, so that they were somewhat luckily saved from defeat, the game ending in a draw.
