Neglecting to send Children to school.


Samuel Boden Conisborough, whose wife appeared, was summoned at the Doncaster West Riding Police, on Saturday, for neglecting to send his child to school.

Mr H.W.Down, said he was ordered by the Board to take proceedings. The daughter, Maryanne, aged 12 years, out of a possible 436 attendances had made 68.

The bench ordered that the child should go to school when fit, and inflicted a penalty of five shillings, including costs.

William Hallam, Conisborough, who did not appear, was summoned for a like offence.

Mr H.W.Downes said. Defendant’s daughter, Jane, and made only 152/436 possible attendances.

Fined five shillings, including costs.

James Watkinson, Conisborough, who did not appear, was summoned for a like offence.

The school attendance officer, said the defendant’s daughter Agnes only attended 131 out of 436 possible attendances.

The usual warning had been given, and the Bench fined defendant 6d and 5s 6d costs.
