New Headmaster
Mr Walter Gledhill of Park Road, Mexborough, who has been headmaster of the Doncaster Road Council School since 1925, has been appointed headmaster of the new Central School at Conisbrough, which is to be opened next year.
Mr Gledhill is a native of Barnsley, receiving his early education at the Barnsley Grammar School, when she went to Owens College Manchester, obtain a B.Sc. Degree.
His first position was as assistant at Kings Road, School Wombwell and he left there to take the position of headmaster at Spring Vale School Penistone. Mr Gledhill held that position for 16 years, coming from Penistone to Mexborough in 1925.
He is also headmaster of the Mexborough Technical School, a vice president of the Mexborough School Sports Association.
For the past two years he has been choir master at the Mexborough Wesleyan Church, and he is a prominent member of the Mexborough Operatic Society.
