Give Denaby the Points

Denaby United 2 South Kirkby 0

Denaby United were without their regular centre- forward, Ardron, when they beat South Kirkby 2-0 at Denaby.

South Kirkby gave an excellent display which did not seem to merit defeat. It was Denaby´s sound defence that prevented them from scoring, but on the other hand it was defensive weakness which enabled the Denaby forwards to do a lot of shooting in.

Goldsmith, formerly of Hull City, gave a creditable display at right back for Denaby, and the pick of the half backs was Smith, Denaby´s centre half.

The game opened with South Kirkby doing most of the attacking, but their efforts were repulsed. Spasmodic attacks were made by Denaby and after Gibbs dropped the ball into the centre for COCKER
to put them ahead. Another breakaway saw Denaby score again through BURKINSHAW.

In the second half South Kirkby attempted a rally but Denaby´s defence was equal to their efforts.
