Pantry Door Damage

Two New Conisboro’ miners named James Norton and Joseph Higgins were charged with doing wilful damage to a pantry door, the property of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries Co Ltd.

The defendants were lodges in a house in Edlington Street, Denaby, and in the course of a quarrel between them the door was smashed.

PC Barnes had had to lock one of them up. Damage was done to the amount of 3/– which the colliery Company claimed through Mr Frank Allen.

Mr H.L.Smethurst, architect to the company, prove the damage, and defendants were fined 2/6 and 8/– costs each, and ordered to make good the damage.
