Phenomenal Bowling Averages

July 1888

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 16 July 1888

A Smith, of Denaby, has made some more phenomenal bowling averages.

Last Saturday, playing with his own club against Tinsley Park, his analysis reads – five overs, two maidens, seven wickets, six runs; and he also obtained 34 with the bat.

Against Cudworth,  on Tuesday, with Mexborough, he captured five wickets for less than that number of runs, and on Saturday, playing at Rotherham with Denaby he obtained all the wickets except one, which was run out.
