Pit Pony Races.

The pit pony race meeting organised in aid of the relief funds in the Mexborough district, and held on the Swinton racecourse yesterday, proved successful.

Several thousands of people paid for admission to the course, and many more entered gratis. Preceding the racing, novelty and ordinary bands paraded the streets and later foregathered on the course.

There were 72 ponies entered from about twelve collieries, and the results were:—

Fitzwilliam Stakes.—Plunger (Manvers Main), 1; Doctor (Aldwarke Main). 2; Luke (Aldwarke Main). 3.

Milton Plate.—Dobbin (Denaby and Cadeby), 1; Patrick (Roundwood). 2; Jack (Grange). 3.

Swinton Leger.—Jerry (Smithy Wood). 1; Ratty (Denaby and Cadeby), 2; Tiny (Manvers Main), 3.

Rockingham Stakes.—Lewis (Denaby and Cadeby). 1; Tom(Barnborough). 2; Ranger (Wath Main), 3.

Montagu Sweepstakes—Sam (Thrybergh Hall). 1; Jolly (Denaby and Cadeby), 2; Jester (Thrybergh Hall), 3.
