Practical Christianity of Miners.

Mr. Tom Hill, a trustee of the Miners’ Welfare fund at Denaby, has joined in the vindication of Denaby’s good name, assailed at the Wesleyan Synod at Barnsley a few days ago.

Mr. Hill, in a vigorous defence, pointed out that 29 per cent, of the population of Denaby were miners, and through their contributions the town possessed some of the finest sports and social facilities the county.

The miners’ contributions had bought a hospital where anyone could obtain treatment without payment.

No one had need to have doctors’ bills in Denaby. “lf that not Christianity, I don’t know what is.” he declared.
