Robbed His Fellow Lodger.

Herbert Freeman, filler, of Conisborough was charged before the West Riding magistrates at Doncaster yesterday with stealing a pair of boots, value 13s. 9d. belonging to John Robert Bryce, glass bottle packer.

The two men lodged together, and on the 24th of April prisoner left without notice, owing for his board and lodging for nine days, and taking with him a pair of new boots, belonging to prosecutor, and leaving behind a pair of old ones which were practically worn out.

Prisoner gave himself up to the police at Wood Green, Darlington, where his parents live. He now said that the prosecutor sold him the boots for which he was to pay week afterwards.

He was fined 40s., including costs.
