Scarlet Fever Outbreak
Twenty seven cases of scarlet fever had been notified in the Urban district since July 3rd but Doctor J. McAuther the medical officer of health, assured the Times on Wednesday that there was no need for alarm.
Before this present outbreak the number of scarlet fever cases reported during the past six months had been the lowest on record.
The 27 patients have been removed to the isolation hospitals.
16 of the cases are from the South ward, 6 from Denaby and 5 from the East Ward, and on Monday evening as a precautionary measure one of the classrooms at Morley place school was stoved.
