Scene in a Mexborough Shop.

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Thursday 30 January 1890

Scene in a Mexborough Shop.

Yesterday afternoon a cow, belonging to Mr. Revill, butcher, of Conisborough, was being driven quietly up High street, Mexborough, when it took a sudden fancy to enter the shop of the Globe Tea Company.

Miss Saul, the manageress, was considerably frightened, and beat a hasty retreat, and the animal, after a short inspection, turned round and made its way out.

The only damage was the destruction a butter cooler, which, considering that the place is full of crockery and glass ware, &c., speaks well for the beast’s behaviour.
