Shocking Accident at the Conisborough Glass Works

An inquest was held at the Star Inn Conisborough on Saturday night, Mr Nicholson, coroner, touching the death of James Shacklock, a labourer, living at Doncaster Road, Conisborough, who had succumbed to injuries received the previous Saturday morning whilst work following his employment Messes Kilner Brothers glassworks.

Evidence was given by Thomas Watson Greaves, labourer, who was with deceased at the time of the accident, and by the manager of the works.

It appears that when the accident happened the deceased was engaged cleaning a flue attached to the furnace at the works, when an escape of fire from another part of the furnace courting, severely burning his legs.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
