Presumed Killed

Mr. and Mrs. W. Hingley, of 138, Doncaster Road, Denaby Main, were informed on Wednesday morning that it is now presumed that their son, Gunner Sydney Hingley, aged 27, was “killed in action at sea” about May 29/30 of last year.

Gunner Hingley was called up on the outbreak of war.

Later he was transferred to a light anti-aircraft battery, and saw service in France.

He was among the many to take part in the Dunkirk evacuation, and it is presumed that it was during that period that he met his death.

He was reported missing.
