Sapper Woodhouse of Top Field, Old Denaby, was killed in action in France on August 3.

He was a married man with two children, and enlisted in January 1915, going to France in August 1916. He was also one of six soldier brothers, two of whom have now been killed, while another is a prisoner in Germany
